Live for 'The' Day

Recently we visited a church that had a banner that said to "Live for 'THE' Day, not for today. It was a good thing for me to read and think about; staying focused on what God is calling us, me and you, to do.

I was reminded of Hebrews 12:1:
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.

We aren't going it alone. We have each other as testimony of His faithfulness and for support. We have felt this support and experienced it in many ways since we were called into ministry.

God the Father has also promised us the Holy Spirit for guidance and comfort, and we have felt this as well over the last five years of ministry.

Making a Move

We feel that the Lord is telling us to make the move, from Middlebury, IN, to the OMS campus in Greenwood, IN, which is on the south side of Indianapolis.
There are some good reasons to make this move. We will live in an OMS house, which will reduce our financial needs. We will be able to work in the office with the other ministry staffers. Jessica has accepted a job in Indy for after her graduation from law school next summer.
The photo is of OMS headquarters. I always enjoy the flags of the nations in front of the office. They are beaitful on a breezy summer day. It is also a reminder for me to pray for the nations and that Jesus died for all people of all times.
Please keep us in your prayers as we attempt to downsize by having a moving sale and sell our home, all during a time when I will be traveling this fall.
AllForHim,
Rich

Into Africa

On September 16, I leave for South Africa. We are having our African ECC Coordinators seminar. Africa faces many challenges, but there are signs of hope that it can get better for Africans. Below is a story from the ECC Shepherd to the African country of Burundi.

The rebels have fought the government forces for years. During the day they hide in the mountains and at night they attack the cities.

In one city there was a pastor that received a vision from the Lord, telling him to take people from the church and go to the mountains and proclaim the name of Jesus. Not many from the church wanted to go.

The pastor did get most of the choir and some others to go to the mountain. On the way, they sang songs. The rebels heard them coming and didn't know what to do. They didn't shoot, they listened. A crowd of rebels gathered and heard about Jesus.

Over 200 accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior.

Just as Ananias went to Saul the murderer with a message of love and forgiveness, so this pastor honored God's call and went proclaiming the message of love and forgiveness.
