Mexico City ECC

In April, I visited some of the ECC teams in Mexico City, Mexico. The ECC teams are busy going house to house to tell people about Jesus. They are starting churches in homes.
The photo to the right is a map of an area where the ECC team has an apartment rented that is used to train the house church leaders. With the map, the ECC team keeps track of the houses they have visited.
Vicky said she was a beleiver, but she didn't attend church. When she met the ECC team, she became interested in becoming part of a church to grow in her spiritual life. She did grow spiritually. She also lead many of her family members to Jesus.
Vicky is one of the people that opened her home to have a church, in the photo to the right. The ECC team is training her to be the leader of the house church in her home.
Vicky has a hunger and thirst for shairng the love of Jesus with neighbors and friends. She also has a thirst for studying the Word of God, the Bible.

Tacos al Pastor

There are many small restaurants in Mexico City that serve great tacos! The photo is from one of those restaurants.

The photo shows a big hunk of meat being slow roasted. The flame is to the left. When you order a taco, or 4 since they are small, the chef chops off some of the meat that is done, which is why the bottom part isn't as big around as the upper part.

The tacos made from this meat are fantastic!

As a missionary, it is important to eat as the nationals eat.
When Jesus sent out His disciples, He told them to eat what is set before them. You eat so that you don't offend your hosts. At times, it is difficult to eat what is set before you because it is so different from what you are used to. But then there are times like having something really good to eat, like Tacos al Pastor.

Jesus Film Event

In April, I visited a country in the Carribean. I was excited to attend two showings of the Jesus Film.

I was excited because this film is a powerful tool for bringing people to Jesus in many countries around the world.

The event is well organized. Often, local churches work together to plan, staff and show the film. They also follow-up with new believers after the showing of the film. Church members hand out invitations and gospel portions the day before and the day they show the Jesus film.

This is a good example of minsitries working together. Various denominations in the country work together and ministries outside the country support the different tasks needed to show the Jesus film.

Carribean ECC Pastor

The photo to the right is of ECC Pastora Helen(not her name), her mother and husband.

Years ago, Helen and her husband had both suffered through an alcohol addiction. But they were set free from the addiction.

After that, they became active in their local church, which was in the next town about 10 kilomters away.

Recently, the church became full and her pastor asked her if she would be willing to open a church in their home, and for her to be the pastor. They felt this was what God wanted them to do, so they opened a church in their home. Since Pastora Helen couldn't attend seminary, she began to receive on-the-job training from an experienced pastor. She also began to study seminary courses by extension.

The home of Pastora Helen wasn't large, but they made room for people to worship. She and her family made a financial sacrifice by giving up space that had been used to raise pigs and are using it instead so that the children would have a place to meet.

The photo to the right shows the place where the children meet. ECC provided the funds for the roof.

Every Saturday and Sunday morning, Pastora Helen and the church members serve breakfast to needy children.

Since the church members are telling their neighbors about Jesus and meeting the needs of the community, the house church that Pastora Helen started is full and still growing.

I am touched by this story. This couple that was saved from alcohol addiction have made a great sacrifice by giving up living space and earning potential so that the Kingdom of God will be extended.

New Meeting Place

In April, I visited a country in the Carribean and visited with a pastor and his family. Many times I have visited with this pastor and attended the church that meets in his apartment.

The apartment was small for the family of four. There wasn't much room for the growing church to meet. During services, people stood outside the windows.

For several years, each time I visited we would pray that the Lord would provide a larger home, so that the church could grow and include more people.

This past year, the Lord answered in a big way. The pastor and his family were able to move into a much larger house. They have kept their living space small so that the church has more room for more ministry.

The Lord has honored the request of the pastor, and the pastor has honored the Lord.
